Nowadays, remodeling one's home could be better than buying a new one especially when budget is considered as well as the convenience of staying where you have lived for a long time. Transporting furnitures and stuff or buying new ones doesn't cost only much, its tiring too. Improving your home (remodeling) also increases the value of your home and it also gives you a feeling of security when things are properly functioning.
This is what I thought when I was home 6 months ago. I have lived in my parents' new house for 10 years and I love how they had planned the whole place. Being old though and lacking space is a bother so I had talked to my brother about renovating it and buying new furnitures. I anyway love playing interior designer using those free online floor planner.

I have been on the lookout for a company with many years of experience in construction. I'm all for professionalism and keeping customers in all the happening that they are guaranteed of getting the best. As for the furnitures, there are a lot of stores out there but I'd go for one that handles their business well. Sure they'd have a MYRIAD of things to sort out but if they can't keep up, the customers get affected too. Any recommendations on contractors or a furniture store you know?
The season calls for new shoes and clothes. Thick moon boots and rollis are on my list...The hubby has a penchant for sporty profile photos for his Facebook, I am the one assigned to do the picture-taking! :) Since it's winter, snowboarding is the "in" sport. It really isn't easy standing there on the snow, holding the camera and waiting for the right moment to click! I've scouted the sportshop around but I found online items cheaper and to my taste. Like Uggs boots, apple bottoms shoes, sweaters, Timberland and Doc Marten's and Tom tailor jackets.

Sa 650 na museo ay pito lang ang natapos naming puntahan ng aking panganay na anak. Ang pagsakay ng bus, tram at train at ticket sa mga museo noon ay nagkakahalaga ng 12 Euro at libre ang mga batang hindi hihigit sa labindalawang taong gulang. Mantakin mo ang laki ng aming natipid dahil kung ang bawat museo ay may 5 Euro na entrance fee (minsan ay mas mahal pa) ay aabutin na kami ng 35 na!

Pinakapaborito ng aking anak ang tirahan ni Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart dahil nag-aaral siyang tumugtog ng Piano at alam na niya ang bersyon ni Mozart ng Twinkle Twinkle Little Star...pinakinggan namin dito ang Magic Flute at nakita namin ang ilan sa mga gamit ni Mozart bukod sa kanyang apartment noon, nanirahan siya dito kasama ang kaniyang asawa at mga anak. Sayang lang at hindi na nagka-anak ang kanyang mga anak kaya naputol ang linya ng mga henyo sa musika sa kanyang pamilya. Di bale, sumunod naman sina Joseph Haydn at Ludwig van Beethoven sa yapak niya. :)

...and it's time for cars to be extra careful. I'm taking about changing tires for winter use, checking the brake if everything bites well and other precautions one must take to make sure that accidents are lessened if not totally avoided. This is one of the reasons why I prefer taking the public transpo but all the cold the winter brings is still a good reason to use a car than walk to the stations, wait for the bus...with the kids in tow.
Burberry messenger bags, Oilily weekender bags and Marc Jacobs handbags, nike gym bags and even Puma ladybags are some that I've set my eyes on. I had a few but not really the ones that cost all my month's earnings. But I seem to be having a somewhat simpler eye nowadays. It's more of a must than a choice. Maybe I'll stick with my grocery bags for now to save up for more. :)
I'm really grateful for those online deals I mentioned some posts earlier. I got a whooping 70% discount on online printing services and I'll be using it to print my first photobook. I haven't finished the layout yet (I haven't even started sorting out the photos) but most of what the book will contain you've already seen here. If not, I'd perhaps finish my daughter's photobook first which has been idly waiting on a shelf. :)

If I have the luxury of time I would have done the same...perhaps. Writing down than just reading makes everything easier to understand. That's how it has always been for me even when I was still a schoolkid. Jotting down or doing some scribbles as the teacher gives a lecture makes me remember better.
I've been studying the bible too since I entered first grade in school, of course, I do not have the same understanding then as now. I thank my teachers for instilling in me the love for the bible because now I recognized the truth the moment it approached me, I accepted it and it has set me free.

-yes, in this city which I've walked many a street almost everyday. I got lost and on 3 consecutive days too. As I mentioned on my other blog I can't remember where I was headed the first time. Second day was when I was going to the University to inquire about the enrolment. Being inside the building was another struggle as I wander around trying to find the registry office. I had no success in that. I had wanted to take up a Master's degree on translation but I think I have to find my way first successfully before finding those words in my head. The last time was when I was looking for the Japanese shop that has most of the stuff I needed for cooking. In all those instances, I was just walking.
Normally, I don't get lost...I have my iphone that the hubby installed with a gps tracking service. Just on those days the little boy has played with it without me having the time to find where he left it. It has always prove itself useful at times I am out to pick up something for the hubby. I know, I could easily look for a certain street on the map but the gps is still a lot cooler to use! :D

Lately I've been addicted (that's too strong a word but that's really appropriate) on 2 websites that give customers discounted deals for various establishments around town. They offer 50% or more discounts for food, wellness, shoes, cosmetic treatments, printing services and a lot more. Since the deals are available for a limited time, I've subscribed to their newsletter so I don't miss any. I've been using up my "salary" buying out lunches for 10Euro instead of 22 for a complete lunch. I bought a 15Euro gift certificate which is worth 50 which I used to buy hubby's winter jacket and my new boots from Tom Tailor (photo at the right, both totalling to 95 instead of 130).
I think these deals are really great, they introduce a new deal almost everyday plus a bonus weekly deal. This is like Cyber Monday deals in the US where you can shop and save upto 70% discount on toys, jewelry, dvds, game consoles, laptops and other gadgets. Stuff that interests hubby more than I but looking around won't hurt, I might find something that interests me like a camera (again) or a new lens at half the price. So, let's go and let's browse!
I have often been getting errors regarding system memory on this laptop. It's frustrating since the browser shuts down while I'm in the middle of writing. It is also annoying that I can't use other programs simultaneously. On the other hand, it has helped me prioritize which I should do first so I can finish one work than go "alt-tabbing" on different things. The hubby promised he'd do something about this but he has been so busy with work and hubby (RCs) that I am extending my patience..it's a virtue after all!
...new digital cameras; models and accesories are sprouting like mushrooms left and right. I'm glad that hubby share the same passion with me when it comes to photography although he leans more on the side of videography. Also, he needs photos for his designs that's why he does shoots whereas mine is purely out of hobby. We have been jumping from Canon to Sony to Nikon to Olympus and to Canon again depending on what we need to photograph.
I was surprised when he came home one time with an EOS 7D. He said that since I like taking action shots, this would be best to use with 8 frames a second. True, I love the features of the 7D only it's bulky and heavier than the 400d which now appears to be a toy when I look at it (lol). I still have a lot to learn about the 7D but I'm willing to do that slowly to better my skills.
Hubby bought this nikon camera shortly before our summer vacation. He said he wanted to dive somewhere and take clips from underwater. He did what he planned and I'd say this one is a thoughie! Anyway, I'd be interested to know which camera you use and what do you think about it? Thanks for the input!
I love notebooks. Well, the traditional notebooks and not laptops but I like those too. :) I always have a notebook in my bag, even a small one where I could write notes or ideas that I wanted to blog about. I have notebooks for Spanish and for Japanese, they are your regular sized notebooks, one that kids used at school. It would be different for German though, I have a bigger notebook (size 24a) so that I can write a lot more about a topic in a page.
And since we established our own small company I have wanted those custom imprinted folio with logo that hubby has designed. I think custom design notebooks and other office stuff with personalized designs are also great should we opt for a launch. Do you know of online-printing services that offer discount for customized notebooks? Please let me know. Thanks!
It has been more than 10 years that I've known hubby...we'd be celebrating our tenth year as husband and wife 6 months from now. In between almost 10 years we had our quarrels, some petty and some grave enough that I won't talk to him for 3 days.
I would share more about our life together on this blog but I have to go sleep now. I was actually looking for wedding anniversary presents for couples when I thought of writing this piece. I love doing arts and crafts. The kids share the same passion with me. Two years ago I launched the Stay at home mom project at my other blog. This project aims to show-off stuff my kids are doing from recycling or designing. Other moms joined in with their art works too and we all had fun. Some of the things we did became personalized gifts as well; paper weights, bookmarker and other small thingies. I think it becomes more personal when you give gifts you yourself make.
Sometime ago, I had a salicylic peel done because of my (annoyingly and recurring) pimples...yes, at this age. :( This was not only expensive, it was really painful! I would say though that it was worth it...I had to suffer 5 days of hiding the skin (I donned a scarf and wore a hat), so as not to expose it under the sun and for people not to see.
So I looked for other options forother acne scars removal that I can opt to have, one is microdermabrasion. The stratum corneum (dead outermost surface of the skin) is partially or completely removed by light abrasion, to remove sun-damaged skin and to remove or lessen scars and dark spots on the skin. This procedure had to be done more often for acne and in an interval of a month or so.
I had use a lot of acne products and somehow, after a year battling acne, it's almost gone. (Thank God!) The next treatment I might undergo is lighter, like fruit peeling.
This age is far different from when I was little. Back then we use films for photos, we get them printed and mounted on frames or in photo albums. That doesn't guarantee them from getting moist and eventually the images fade. That is why half of my heart is thankful that now we can store photos and files with a click of the mouse. They can also be printed as photobooks which lasts longer than photos in albums. The other half of me misses manual cameras, dark rooms and printing my own photos there...I am after all, an old-school photographer. So here are some of the photos of my kids I stored and turned into digiscraps...It would be nice to get this printed too, no?
My daughter has a signature smile...that without showing her teeth but just thinning her lips. She still smiles like this and very seldom that she would show her teeth in a photo. Nope, she has no idea yet who Gwyneth Paltrow is. :) (Photos taken when she was 15-months-old, 13-months-old and 3-years-old.)
My second was a very happy baby...most of his photos are like this baby shot always with eyes so chinky.We call him kengkoy (silly) until now. Yet he could be serious too when he wants to as you see in the other photo. (Photos taken when he was 7-months-old and 6-years-old)
This is my youngest. He was so serious when he was a baby as opposed to his older brother. I remember how he wouldn't budge even if he gets tickled. He wouldn't even giggle over a funny face. He gradually changed and himself a kengkoy now. (Photos taken when he was 7-months-old and almost 4.)

Eto naman ang paborito naming panghimagas ng aming barkada, ang panna cotta. Noon ay hindi pa namin ito kilala sa tawag na panna cotta. Little boy has this habit of shouting "Liebling ko yan!" (that's my favorite) when we eat out or when we're at the grocery. I imitated him one time (tone) while he was lying down beside me .
Browsing furnitures on sale made me want to buy a new bathroom cabinet set and an additional cabinet for our dining area. I really need the space to put in baking utensils. There's enough space for a 180x30 (width and thickness) sideboard by our table, I would really prefer one with casters for easy cleaning of the floor. A little push and I could easily dust off everything there.

I'm enjoying this website, groupon.at, that's giving consumers really good discounts. That would best describe the stuff that keeps popping out my face. :( Just when I thought all is clear in the war zones of pimples and scars, nose blackheads became my problem now. I think I need to give a bit more attention to this zone when cleaning my face then. I was tempted to look at the new products while buying some vitamins for the kids at the apothecary earlier...but I know better now, sticking to a regimen is the best. Hopefully this determination works for this stubborn blackheads too.

May iba't ibang gawain, eksperimento at instalasyon ang makikita sa museum. Talaga namang nag-enjoy ang mga bata dahil ang tubig ay isa sa pinakapaborito nilang nilalaro.
Ito ang isa sa mga instalasyon...mga pinagtagnitagning piraso na kailangang ikutin, hilahin at bombahin para umikot ang tubig.

Hubby changed to his former self...that of wearing casual clothes to wear. So what do you do with unused mens ties? Use them as inspiration in coloring eggs! lol. Kidding aside, I found this idea very creative. I bet there'd be a hundred more things I can find to paint aside from eggs. I just need to find the time to actually look and do this project...

For almost two years I battled acne...adult acne resulting from my stopping contraceptive pills. You all know how much I've spent for each and every acne product I thought would help. :( Still, some were never effective, others I just didn't continue to use. Despite knowing that using different products will aggravate the situation, I think it's only natural for those suffering acne to experiment...especially for faster results. I can now conclude that Dalacin was the one that stopped the bacteria from spreading all those nasty zits :D. Then Kojic soap helped in clearing not just dead skin but dark spots and scars...now, I only need to undergo skin peeling to remove the deeper scars. ;-) (It's not a procedure I really look forward too) *sigh*
To this day, we do not travel with a donkey nor do we walk on long roads to reach our destination. (Though there are still undeniably undeveloped areas in the world who have and do those). The trouble we face is when getting flat tires, overheating and all problems included owning a car. Of course there would still be good Samaritans out there disguised as roadside assistant or more commonly known to us as doing rv towing and mechanics. Naturally, it's not free, we have to pay for the service, far from the Good Samaritan in the story who even paid for the Jew's stay in an inn. :)
Ja, wirklich. Ich habe schon bei der Universität erkundigt wie man zur Translationswissenschaft sich einschreiben. Ich war einmal bei der Uni und habe auch per email gefragt. Nun habe ich noch nicht von jemanden gehört.
Zeit zwei Jahre habe ich diese Überlegung. Ich liebe andere Sprache zu lernen und eine Karriere als Übersetzerin kann man auch von zu hause ausführen. Wie Übersetzungswebseiten die das bietet online Services aber meine würde persönlich, naturlich eine Arbeit in einen Übersetzungsbüro ist möglich. Ich nutze auch solche Webseiten wenn ich Spanische oder Japanische Wörter suchen weil ich habe Spanisch fast vergessen. Japanisch könnte ich nur sprechen aber lesen and schreiben nicht. :( Übersetzungswebseiten arbeiten wie online Übersetzungsbüro...
Zur Zeit könnte ich nur Englisch-Deutsch, Deutsch-Englisch anbieten aber Tagalog ist auch möglich. Nur man braucht das nur für Auflagen fürs Visum und solche Dokumente. Zur Zeit gibt es in Wien einen offizielle Übersetzungsbüro für Tagalog...und für jede Dokumente muss man 35€ bezahlen. :P Also, ich hätte noch diese Woche wissen was wird passiert! ;)
This is our kitchen when I have the time cleaning up after cooking. Oh don't ask how it looks when I'm cooking or when I'm too lazy :D Perhaps chaos would be the most appropriate description lol. I've always maintained that corner that way with a little netbook too. I've always depended on that netbook when I'm too lazy to think of what to cook. I'd google up recipes for the meat or fish I have at the fridge and cook! It's just an ordinary netbook that hubby set up, not a new one and very much far from an industrial pc (lol) but it does the job well though I really need to lift the pages of my recipe books...

Skin, that is. Back home, TV commercials are more of whitening lotion. Grocery shelves full of whitening soap, creme, lotion and other stuff that would lighten skin tone, particularly a woman's. I wouldn't deny trying a certain lotion back then, to no effect. My skin only lightened a bit when I started living in Manila. It must be the wind and the water lol.
When I came to Vienna it was the other way around. People prefer tanning lotions and these are prolific in the stores here. I remember a colleague said she wants to have the same skin color I have... :) Well, I think it really is a matter of being satisfied...I'm particular with how safe changing skin color is...
It has been a year now since my daughter started her piano lessons. In the course of that year she learned Beethoven's Ode to Joy, Für Elise and Mozart's piece of Twinkle twinkle Little Star among others. She barely had the time to practice in summer since we were always out and about. Also, my older sister's keyboard was not at home so dawty doesn't have something to practice on.
I 've always associated "Opus" with classical music. Well, it does denote the number of the work of a musical composition that's why. So when I read somewhere the opus x, I immediately thought it to be a piece of piano composition. It was far from it though. Anyway, dawty is now learning number 7 of Opus 823 (The Little Pianist) by Carl Czerny. I haven't heard it much played since I mostly listen to Pachelbel, Bach and so on but the piece is surely one of the best too. I'd post a video as soon as I'm able to capture one.
It is very seldom that I write about my frustrations. Seldom do I write about negative stuff I encounter in this lovely city. Believe me, the people here can be as cold as a noh mask even if they are at the information desk, the cashier or government service.
If there is an award I can give for being the most friendly government agency, that would go to the MA 10 (Kindergarten Amt) led by Ms. Hetz and her very willing group. I always go there with confidence because I know that they'd be welcoming everyone with a smile. I get subsidies for Kindergarten care and after school care from them before and they're always helpful to let me know what should be done.
They'd be followed by the office just below, I forgot what they're called exactly but they do the registration for those who should serve the military or civil service. Hubby did his civil service requirement 3 years back and the people in the registry were so nice. There's just one who won't smile nor look at you when she speaks but she was helpful too.
The best award for most friendly cashiers would be those at the Penny Markt near our place. They are always greeting you with genuine smiles, a joke or two and sometimes really a good conversation (if you bought a lot). Plus the fact that they have the lowet prices among groceries here, buying is always a pleasure.
On the contrary, if there is a frown award to give to those who are not so friendly, I have a long list...For now I may have forgotten some so let me rethink. Ahhh...the woman at the Wohnbeihilfe (housing benefit) office! You know there's often a long line of applicants there, so you get a number then you get called accordingly. Imagine after waiting for like an hour you came into the office and the person inside doesn't even greet you nor offer for you to sit down then talk to you without bothering to look at your eyes...yeah, that's how bad. You'd easily think that person must be racist. Well, I at least do since many of those who apply for benefits are naturalized citizens.
Another bad experience I remember was at McDonald's Johanesgasse. This branch has a lot of pinoy crew, hubby at one point worked there too. One time, I came in queue to who I thought was Chinese...and friendly. Turns out she's a snob. Never had eye contact, no greeting, no thank yous...I learned later on that she was Vietnamese because I saw her photo on hubby's phone with the name Nguyen...(that's a very common Vietnamese surname no?) My annoyance to that person didn't stop there because we met her once after we watched a movie. She was so friendly with the hubby and talked with him for like 15 minutes without bothering to say hello to me and the kids....more, she was with his boyfriend who she didn't introduce to hubby at all. I actually left at about 3 minutes seeing them there too engaged in a conversation and brought the kids farther from them. Hubby came looking for us later on lol.
Well, I thought maybe for her it must not be their culture to go greet a person's wife or family or it may not even ben their custom introducing their boyfriends but it still gets on my nerves. I wonder why such people work where there are lots of people.
For me people who does not know how to smile shouldn't be doing jobs that require contact with people. I always regard, government service, customer service representative work and the likes are for those who know how to deal with people regardless of their color, language, height, eye color and even smell. :)
With the new iphone 4 out, you'd think hubby and I are ecstatic to have one. Well, he at least. He's a gadget freak so whatever new comes in the market he'd certainly get his hands on it. This time he didn't, much to a friend's surprise. It was because I have been having problems with my iphone and network. He's thinking of switching to another company and getting another phone.
I was surprised that tonight he came home with a windows phone. lol. It's still a prototype...I think. He got it as a sample because he works for the company's online ads so it's so sort of like having an idea about the phone.
(I'll ask him soon if I can borrow the phone and have a photo uploaded here.) SSShhh...It's not as sleek as the iphone looks. :)
I can give all the excuses why I haven't been writing. Oh I have wrote a topic or two about a weight loss product, facial creams and topics that has nothing to do with parenting. It's not that I am running out of things to say but I honestly can't find the time.
My bookshelf has been collecting spider web and dust. So I decided to read those books that I have begun reading before for about 10 pages. (I would forget that I actually started reading them. Talk about age!) For now though, I have to go attend my Pilates class. :D Yes, I've ventured yet again into another class...and each session really gives me bodyache! :D Gotta love it!
I sometimes put on a slipcover, well two pieces of cloth that serves as cover but not the one pictured here. I think it's only online that I've seen such suede, twill cloth slipcover, there is also a recliner slipcover and dining chair slipcovers but I haven't seen one that's shaped like an L as our sofa is. If only there's a tailot/seamstress (if that's also what they're called for such products) who can make one for me....hmmm.
I really enjoy the show; The World's Greenest Home. I enjoy the designs and the fact that they were made earth-friendly. If you notice too, most of them are designed by owners themselves, mostly architects. I also enjoyed viewing furniture pieces from tv stands, side tables, cabinets, kitchen tops and sets to bathroom accessories, flooring and carpet.
Anyway, here is one of the more amazing videos you'd probably seen already. I mean, we have that sofa bed but theirs is much cooler!
It's officially autumn. 
Pumpkins are all over the place, that was why I was prompted to cook ginataang kalabasa with shrimps.
Some of the leaves of trees turned yellow now and the ground are covered with them when the wind blows. I can already feel the cool breeze. So most of the sweaters, boots and thick pants have been pulled out from their slumber...this is the time that my son (the one with bronchitis) should be kept warm to avoid heavy-breathing attacks.
It's also the best time to cook up soup but first learn new ones...
