I Spy Sunday - Upside Down Snails

My daughter saw them and asked me to take a photo. They were hidden under a gate's side wall. (She surely has good vision).

Have a fun week everyone!

Tineye photo search, a useful tool for photographers

Perhaps you've read in newspapers or a friend's blog about photos being stolen, edited and getting published without the author's consent. I for one is against this as it is clearly stealing...plain and simple.

I have been on the lookout for software or anything that would make me detect my photos that were stolen. I was glad about copyscape but they would detect only words so I was really glad when I learned about Tineye, a site that could detect photos from the url you enter or photos that you upload. They will even detect altered photos...the database is still in the process of expanding their photo files but I see a great potential in this, so go ahead and visit their site and check if your most valued photo has landed in other websites.

Litratong Pinoy - Ihip ng Hangin

hangin
(Ang nasa larawan ay ang aking panganay.- In photo: my eldest.)

Ihip ng Hangin (Blow of the Wind)

----

Kids are happy playing with dandelions. They blow it off until no seeds remain and the seeds get scattered when the wind blows. This is why this grass grow so fast...it is said 'If dandelions are hard to grow, they would be welcome in any lawn.'

......

Happy LP!

Loving Entrecard 2

Sometime ago I posted an entry entitled; Loving entrecard. I wrote it as a way of saying thank you since entrecard added a multiple blog feature which made dropping very easy. Little did I know that there would be a contest related to that post.

Entrecard is giving away 15,000 ecs to users with multiple blogs.

---

Another good thing to blog about is the release of the Entrecard Ebook which will help both new users and advanced users alike.

A great network to increase traffic, find great blogs, meet new friends and fun contests, who wouldn't love entrecard?

Worth it: a Stay at Home Mom

While bloghopping I chanced upon Mom's Frugal post for May 15. It is about Fox News' report on what a Stay at Home Mom would earn if she is compensated for working at home.

Sahm's work at home not just out of responsibility but yes, it is because of love, but if the daily work they do is to be compensated, they'll earn almost 117,000$ a year or 9750$ a month! Unbelievable? Not really, stay at home moms work more hours for overtime than a regular employee would. One mom even said that this is quite low. But no matter, compensated or not, SahMoms would stay SahMoms for the satisfaction they get knowing that she did everything she could at the end of the day for her loved ones!

Green Thumb Sunday - "A Hidden Garden in the City"

I've been in Vienna for almost 6 years, unfortunately I haven't really 'explored' the city wholly. Some weeks ago, hubby and I decided to wander around since he has 2 weeks of vacation. Unfortunately, he got sick so he actually had most of the days staying at home.

By the end of his vacation though we did manage to visit Schloss Belvedere, a baroque palace and is said to be the summer house of Prince Eugene of Savoy.

Turns out that not only do they have a majestic garden but a well maintained park identifying trees, vegetables, plants and flowers. It happened to be almost the end of spring when we came so we were still able to photograph the tulips. Here are some photos I took, others will be featured in my other blog, Vienna Daily.

Happy GTS!

Photo Hunt - Shoes

"Wear nice shoes and they will take you to beautiful places."
(Toudou Shizuka - Hana Yori Dango)

I am a shoeholic, and I sometimes really want to stop being one but I think having shoes that you like and you"re comfortable with is not a bad thing. Instead of showing my shoe collection today, I opted to show my most favorite, red mary janes.

After taking a photo of the shoes I went to the kitchen. When I came back, I found the little boy in his favorite spot of the house (the balcony door) who seemed to be trying the shoes on. It even matches his shirt and brief lol.

Admit it guys, when you were kids you like wearing your mom's pumps too!

Happy weekend!

Sky Watch Friday

While browsing through my stock photos I found this shot with a date stating May 16, 2004.

It has been raining lately then today were only some drizzle and the sky was amazingly blue when it stopped. Unlike the photo which suggests rain, today was a clear one! Happy weekend everyone!

Question of the Week 4: Budget tips

Can you share any budget or money saving tips that you find effective?

Since we became a family of five, budget for home dining has increased. Cutting down or saving a little hasn't been so easy but things I find helpful are as follows;

Plan your meals/recipes for the whole month. And make a variety for a week with fish, meat, pasta, rice, bread and vegetables to complete your required vitamins and minerals daily supply.

List down the ingredients for each recipe so you know exactly what you need, IN ORDER. Keeping a list of things to buy will really make you avoid impulse buying.

Buy in bulk, calculate how much meat, rice you will need for the month and buy them in stores where bulk sales are cheaper. If you get discount coupons, the better. Use them, they will save you a lot or if the store offers free membership where pointing system also gives you discount, sign up for it!

Boil pork/beef meat altogether (add a little salt) and part them into servings you'll need for your recipes. Cut up chicken pieces and part, use the good 'ol tupperware and refrigerate. Its easy taking them out to defrost day before cooking them.

Buy vegetables and other easily rotting ingredients on the day you are to cook it to stop them from rotting and stop you from wasting your money.
Hope that helps.

Ang Ilog Danube sa Paglubog ng Araw

Marahil ay makailang ulit ko ng nailathala ang litratong ito, ito ay isa sa aking mga paborito at nagkaroon din ng panahon na nailathala sa Diyaryong Oesterreich.

(The Danube at Sunset.
I am reposting a photo which is almost 4 years old. This photo has been featured at the Österreich Zeitung (Austria newspaper) once so there might be a bias as to why I actually chose it-lol. )

Still the Danube on a sunny morning in Spring! How right could Strauss be with his waltz 'Blue Danube?'

Loving Entrecard

I have four blogs and I signed each for entrecard using 4 different email addresses. It wasn't easy remembering my password for each especially the first week so I chose one password for all. But logging in and out of the system made me go lazy doing drops, sometimes I don't do any.

So when I received the email from entrecard about how one can switch to their other blogs by linking them, I was really relieved. It was very convenient going from one blog to another bloghopping through all entrecard listed blogs.

Thank you guys!

Odd Shots Monday

"Couch Potato Baby."

I gave the little boy a bath and left the room to get him a tshirt. This is what I saw when I came back, I know my hubby tends to be one but its odd for me to see him in the same slouching position with a protruding belly. Have a great week everyone!

I Spy Sunday - New Guidelines

Post about photos that you took in a spying manner. Photos of wild animals while hiding behind a tree, a bush or photoscoping a bird from afar...a couple being sweet while you hide behind the benches. Photos that you need to give extra effort to just to be able to achieve a good shot...photos you think fits 'I Spy something ____'

I guess this is better than having a weekly theme so everyone can post any subject as long as it is a photo they spied on...

Go to www.mirageasusual.blogspot.com and leave the url for your post as a comment on the day's posted photo. This way others will find your post easily and be able to comment too.

Sky Watch Friday - Blue Danube

My post for today would be one of my stock photos, the same post from my other blog. A Photo of the Danube River which has a bluer color than the sky...If it is a reflection of the sky, I think there is something wrong with my picture... or that Strauß' Blue Danube is so true! =)
Happy Sky Watching everyone!

LP #7 Umaapoy
