Light

A lamp post against the morning's blue sky

September 16, 07; Disneyland Paris

(Para sa mga Ilaw ng tahanan. But the photo has nothing to do with this, just wanna use it lol.)

Proverbs 31

10 A capable wife who can find? Her value is far more than that of corals.

11 In her the heart of her owner has put trust, and there is no gain lacking.

12 She has rewarded him with good, and not bad, all the days of her life.

13 She has sought wool and linen, and she works at whatever is the delight of her hands.

14 She has proved to be like the ships of a merchant. From far away she brings in her food.

15 She also gets up while it is still night, and gives food to her household and the prescribed portion to her young women.

16 She has considered a field and proceeded to obtain it; from the fruitage of her hands she has planted a vineyard.

17 She has girded her hips with strength, and she invigorates her arms.

18 She has sensed that her trading is good; her lamp does not go out at night.

19 Her hands she has thrust out to the distaff, and her own hands take hold of the spindle.

20 Her palm she has stretched out to the afflicted one, and her hands she has thrust out to the poor one.

21 She does not fear for her household because of the snow, for all her household are clothed with double garments.

22 Coverlets she has made for herself. Her clothing is of linen and wool dyed reddish purple.

23 Her owner is someone known in the gates, when he sits down with the older men of the land.

24 She has made even undergarments and proceeded to sell [them], and belts she has given to the tradesmen.

25 Strength and splendor are her clothing, and she laughs at a future day.

26 Her mouth she has opened in wisdom, and the law of loving-kindness is upon her tongue.

27 She is watching over the goings-on of her household, and the bread of laziness she does not eat.

28 Her sons have risen up and proceeded to pronounce her happy; her owner [rises up], and he praises her.

29 There are many daughters that have shown capableness, but you—you have ascended above them all.
30 Charm may be false, and prettiness may be vain; [but] the woman that fears Jehovah is the one that procures praise for herself.

31 GIVE her of the fruitage of her hands, and let her works praise her even in the gates.

That's a mother and wife for you but for your lighting needs, Kichler lighting is the best choice out there....there were also a lot of beautiful and eye-catching chandeliers and installation at Ikea. Just looking at them makes me want to renovate our house....*sigh*

Big Things

One big eye!

The little boy didn't get scared of Mike Wazowski (Monsters Inc.) but he surely was schocked to see Sulley. He didn't get near any other mascots after being scared by Sulley.

Giant Chipmunk!

Chip or Dale? Your guess is as good as mine. :D We can't tell them apart...though the other chipmunk can be seen on this photo too. Can you distinguish one from the other?

gondola4(Gondola, Venice, Italy)

Yesterday was blue, today is black. I'm loving color themes.

Venice, a wondrous city of fairest carving, reflected in gleaming waters swirled to new patterning by every passing gondola...as one feminist wrote.

Hanami Weekend

Hanami or "flower viewing" is the Japanese traditional custom of enjoying the beauty of flowers, "flower" in this case almost always meaning sakura (cherry) blossoms or ume (plum blossoms). From mid January to early May, sakura bloom all over Japan. Since Japan is too far from where we are, the kids and I enjoy are own viewing in spring. There are a variety of plum, peach and cherry trees around especially in the street leading to their school.

sakura1

I have been taking photos one day at a time to compare the blossoms. One day they were naked, second their light pink and in full bloom the next. I just hope I'd still see them when the petals are on the ground, literally making the  grounds the street of a thousand blossoms.

IMG_8902IMG_1117

At times I get confused as to which are cherry blossoms and which are peach blossoms (momo). These are white and pink sakuras that almost look like momo because they have lots of petals. The leaves would confirm though that they're indeed sakura.

For those who wonder, I am not Japanese but Filipino, my husband is Filipino-Singaporean but we are enthusiasts  of Japanese cuisine, songs, culture, language, basically anything Japanese...(anime, cosplay, manga, comedy, actors, singers...) I've never been to Japan but I am in constant contact with friends and relatives there, learning the language slowly, acquiring new recipes ;) and turning Japanese bit by bit (kidding!).  Should we have a chance and the means, we'd live there for the rest of our lives. :)

----

The tulips are not to be left behind. They are also in full bloom now, in all colors but I need more time "flower viewing" to capture all. Hopefully this week. :)

Enjoy the week ahead.

Lansangan/Karatula (Street/ Signs)

---

signs

Happy LP!

Meet Minnie!

DSC01182
For families who love to travel, the beach or anywhere water fun is available would be the first choice for summer or fun rides and fantasy parks, read: Disneyland.  The one we've been to and the nearest is Disneyland Paris so a change in surrounding might be better. Aside from our neighboring countries surrounded by water, Orlando (Florida) is one of the best spots that vacationer's deem worthy of their money especially with packages tailored for individual or group needs. The child in each of us would surely come out when visiting theme parks as Disney World's Magic Kingdom, Sea World or Universal Studios. How about Disney Waterparks such as the Typhoon Lagoon or Blizzard Beach?

Nowadays , package vacation deals are the trend. When we went to Disneyland Paris, we got plane fare, hotel accommodation and meals plus Disneyland tickets for a reasonably-priced package, all booked by our agent. Saved us bucks and time of looking around for each as the agent gave us a good deal, everything included.

Buying an vacation package is the same. Agents selling Orlando vacation packages get discounted rates from theme parks directly and shares this with their customers. Surely there are other ticket sellers around Orlando, but which one provides the best? Having over 50 years of management experience in the theme park industry, Orlandofuntickets.com takes pride in having reliability and convenience with their service. Orlando vacation packages will present you with lots of options for theme park tickets but it's up to you to choose what you like for your vacation.

Singapore - Weekend Snapshot

The Singapore Flyer, drive by shot.

Dr. Jose Rizal once said  "Ang hindi lumingon sa pinaggalingan ay hindi makakarating sa paroroonan." (He who does not look back at where he came from will not reach his destination.) Reason why I thought it important that my kids learn about their paternal grandfather's (and aunts) as well as their dad's second home, Singapore. It was also to somehow help me and my mom feel better about the loss of my dad. We did enjoy our trip then though I forgot to take a photo of sis in law. :D

Disney World Tickets

Budget alloted for an Orlando vacation might not be too easy though. Considering the high cost of travel (whether land or air) plus the cost of accommodation, meals and tickets with the number of persons included (for us, 2 adults and 3 kids) means $$$$$!

Online portal for men's clothing

Hubby has definitely changed clothing preferences. He used to wear jeans and shirts as opposed to a more formal looking shirt plus tie and black pants.

We found a very useful online portal, ShopWiki, that lists a variety of stuff about men's clothing---complete from shirts to ties, tuxedoes to training gears, shoes, dress pants to jeans and other accessories.

ShopWiki gives online shoppers a wider range of choices, more products, more stores, price comparison plus lots of valuable tips. I find their page on Men's Guide to Getting dressed helpful, especially the 'style' category. I am not particular with how my husband dress, so the points they gave there is an eye-opener of what clothes and accessory combination work well with each other and what's not. The portal interestingly provided also a Designer's page that gives buyers a good idea which among them is best to choose for certain types of clothing.

Also, being the shoeholic that I am, I tried searching for 'shoes' and whoa! in a hit, thumbnails of pumps and ballerinas and where to buy convinced me to shop more!

Tulay/Bridge - Litratong Pinoy

Gondolas, waterways, one look and you know its Venice. A city in northern Italy, the capital of the region Veneto, Venice relies on water for its transportation. The city is connected by more or less 400 bridges. No wonder Venice has been nicknamed 'The City of Bridges' and "The City of Waters' among others.

Venice is Europe's largest urban car free area, unique in Europe in remaining a sizable functioning city in the 21st century entirely without motorcars or trucks.

Roofers

Following the home remodeling article last week, let's look up roofers thie time. Having a home with a roof that is not durable or is of a mismatch to how your home is designed would be chaotic.

As with other jobs, roofing requires skills that is gained through learning and experience, we might not see it that way but it includes various areas like math, carpentry and construction.

How do you get the best roofer in town? Asking around is the old way, ask a family member if they know people in the roofing industry, surely they will point you to someone who had a roofing done job too. Using the phone book is another easy step or ask a local home supply center. Contractors will often leave business cards or ads posted there and roofers are of course included. The internet is another, gather roofer names online then do some comparisons.

But I'll give you the edge, Sundance roofing is the best Albuquerque Roofer that offers the best solutions to roofing problems. They offer the most reasonable prices on the roofing industry, also establishing itself as the best in quality service with affordable service cost. They cater to residential and commercial builders offering various services including flat roof with tars, stucco, concrete, block walls, drywall and painting. Having over 45 years of experience and finishing projects such as public schools, and other big named companies, Sundance is surely an established firm.

Sand - Unique Exposures

Have you ever tried building sandcastles?

‘A child building a sandcastle is not "working hard". It doesn’t seem to him to be a task. It simply fills his imagination at the time ti’st going on, and anything else is an irritant.’

Sakura and Okinawa

sakurabloom I have many times blogged about my fondness for cherry blossoms, for its beauty, its symbolical meaning in japanese literature and songs related to it.

In this time of the year, spring in particular, Hanami is observed all-over Japan. It is a tradition of observing and enjoying flowers, most of the time Sakura or cherry blossoms and Ume or plum blossoms. This tradition was brought over by locals to Germany and I sometimes do observe them here too as you see in these photos but the best place to see them of course is none other than Japan, where hubby and I would love to visit soon!

Tokyo and Chiba would be our first stop but Okinawa appears interesting too. Being located southwest of Japan and surrounded of course by the Pacific, I am quite sure that sushi would be the freshest here. Also being subtropical, the flowers bloom all year round.

path2

Okinawa is consisted of small beautiful Islands, with white-sand beaches that are either easy to find or hidden and hard to reach, depending on your preferences, there is surely one you'd find perfect for having bbq parties or just watching the beautiful sun! Japan is afterall called Nihon, meaning origin of the sun (also nicknamed Land of the Rising Sun).

I can go on and on about the many beautiful things in Okinawa, but why not find out for yourself what is interesting in this land where Karate originated? For more information please visit Okinawa Travel Guide, a comprehensive guide to Okinawa including pictures, blogs, news, hotel recommendations and a discussion forum of visitors for reference of people who are interested to visit. See you there!

Triangle - Unique Exposures

pyram

I have used this photo once for an entry of the same theme, triangle. This is one of the 3 pyramids surrounding the bigger one at the Louvre museum in Paris.

The many speculations emerging from the construction of these pyramids are curious. Had French president François Mitterrand really required for tha panes to be 666 in numbers? I wouldn't dare count, or maybe I would given the chance to be back there and spend more than half a day!

Scenic Sunday - Somewhere in Paris

paris resto

I have always been vocal on my views of the City of romance as a not-so-clean city. It is not really a minus factor for us to enjoy the city and take photos or just stroll down through its historic streets.

Paris boasts of a rich cultural and artistic heritage, no contest to that! I wouldn't mind coming back to enjoy the works of Rodin (in a museum named after him) and other known artists at the Louvre. Or I'd simply walk under a beautiful blue sky like the one below.

lamparas

Happy Sunday!
