Restaurateur!

If a food blogger is really up to his or her dream of making it big, it doesn't end up with just one's love for food. At some point, they go to that stage of cooking their favorite food at home, discovering how each dish is concocted and what the secret ingredient to a hearty meal is. With this comes also the want to make food aesthetically pleasing, a good mix of color, a lovely sprinkle of garnish and a lovely arrangement. Thus, it follows that food photography is an inevitable course. There might be ideas of attending a culinary school or a photography class. Along the way, the foodie invests in professional cookware too. Finally, after spending too much time in the kitchen and restaurant hopping, the foodie wants to open up a foodshop with herself/himself as the Chef.

Setting up a restaurant involves a handful of tasks that are time-consuming, mentally draining and physically tiring. Aside from location, licenses, budget, staff hiring/training, one must also plan and think of the smaller yet crucial matters such as consumer target, water and electricity connection, interior design restaurant equipment and foodservice supplies.

Custom prints

When hubby and I started our graphic arts business at home, I saw to it that photography is one of the "others" that we will be doing. Good thing it did work out and in time we were doing small-time portrait photography in kindergartens. At first, I was clueless as to what is the best printing option for us. I find the print shops around us too expensive, not to mention: too slow, if not, the photos turn out darker than what I wanted. I was grateful for online custom prints from PsPrint, which saves me not just time, but money as well.
-
I also opted to print out some business cards, our own calendar and postcards too...those of my own photos. Being a hobbyist, I have all our photos from our vacation and from everyday clicks saved in a separate disk. With online prints, I could easily access my files and choose the photos I want printed. To start the list of advantages in having online prints: convenient way to choose photos to be printed. Design templates are readily available for your business cards or custom designing is also offered. Fast service and shipping discounts plus a lot more discounts every once in a while. There are other products that I can include with the photos as a package such as calendars, stickers, greeting cards, and more.
-
So if you are starting out a business and needs to have some printing job done or when you are a mom like me who takes lots of the kids' photos, remember PsPrint is the topshop for your needs. It's the best alternative for Kinkos! Hurry and avail of the 20-50% off discount on certain items.

Online meet ups

I was talking to a friend a while ago, she has been boyfriendless for a while now and she was so excited to finally met a guy she really likes. She was reluctant at first when I asked her where she met him but eventually he gave me a reply; in one of those hawaii chat rooms. Well I hope she'd have a happy ending over this one...like many others who have met online.

Kilns and more

Pottery is perhaps one of the oldest forms of art known to man. Whether cooking pots or designer jars or a simple art clay kiln, someone is bound to collect them sooner or later. Maybe you've heard about AMACO (American Art Clay Company), they provide pottery supplies educational kits, and craft programs for all interested. They have professional teachers, framers, potters, craft designers, and a neighborhood pottery studio where one can practice arts and crafts and eventually hone skills.

Amaco kilns have been known ever since its inception. In 1919, they made the first American modeling clay but didn't stop there. Through the years the company has provided patrons with all kinds of services realting to ceramic pottery kilns, lead free glazes and underglazes, ceramic, self-hardening and air dry clays, Brent Potter wheels and equipments, mold making and sculpture, glass products and even the first adaptable potter’s wheel for the physically challenged. With their motto "From a Colorful Past, Comes an Exciting Future," Amaco has proven that in 90 years, pottery and art never goes out of style.

Lansangan/Karatula (Street/ Signs)

Happy LP!

Schoolday - Weekend Memoirs

class1

---

Many weekends or weekdays ago, we used to make those floors shiny, tidy up the chairs, clean the blackboard, raise our hands to answer the teacher's questions, neatly make artworks and see to it the we are at the top of the class...only later on to realize that ability matters more than school grades...well not entirely hehe. Point is, we took our schooling seriously and disciplined ourselves well thus making our parents proud. ;-)

It's my little boy's turn to shine. A class of 22 kids, fewer boys perhaps (as usual), he could be the most talkative there...though not the one to be best in speaking German, I guess...I had to explain to the director and the teacher that German only comes after Tagalog and English, we barely speak the language at home.

On the first day of school, he told me that his classmates say he is brown, well he is hehe because he spent almost a month everyday going in and out of the pool and the sea---he's actually yellow lol. (not hepa, chinese are actually from the yellow race hihi).

Dad put on his hairgel that day...and I did prepare his Schultüte (school cone) for him, filled it with school stuff and sweets. Last year, my daughter's cone was bigger and I thought it's too heavy for my son, who is only 118 cms (too small for grade 1!) so I bought him this smaller one, no complains naman...

Mom, I'd like to learn how to play the piano

I always believed that music brings out the best in a person. Singing gives one confidence and so does playing an instrument, that's why I was happy hearing my daughter said she wanted to learn playing the piano. Three years ago, I enrolled my daughter in her kindergarten's music classes for toddlers for flute when she was 4. She played well and can read notes already but had to stop because the school where she went to does not offer this particular program. I plan tp enrol all 3 kids in a music school and I was ecstatic to find out that there's a toddler music class near our place. Vienna, just like Japan emphasizes on children's talent development , the famous composers Mozart and Strauß learned and developed their music here after all. There are various Music centers and schools or individuals offering music lessons which the children can attend to after school as extra curricular activities, Kindermusik or Music Together .

My daughter would take piano, my older son said he wants to learn the guitar and it's convenient too since hubby bought him a guitar years ago while I am not sure for my 3 year-old yet. I am considering to enroll him for voice lessons since he loves singing anyway even with words that are not yet recognizable :D .

A friend also invited me to join one of those california chat rooms, as if we do not communicate enough, its a great place to know other people too!

Three weekends ago we attended the International convention of Jehovah's witnesses. Participants and guests came from all over the world and interestingly wore their national costumes. Japanese kimono, Mexican sombrero and mariachi, Kenyan dashiki and kitenge, Indian sari, Philippine barong tagalog and baro't saya, Austrian/Bavarian tracht and dirndl, the Netherlands dutch cap and sabot were all present!

It was a wonderful experience seeing people from all walks of life, of different color, language and race united in worship.Though it was held in a stadium, there were no riots nor trash that you'd usually see after a sports event. I was impressed!

Health insurance

The sudden change in economic stability brought about budget adjustments to many household that availing of insurance is viewed a waste of money. Contrary, this is the time that we should secure an insurance service in case things get out of hand. We are not certain of what tomorrow will bring, fond or otherwise, so insurance becomes our safety net.How many insurances do you pay for a month? As for us we have, life insurance, health insurance, house insurance and business insurance paid either monthly or quarterly. Doing yearly payments is just too big a chunk from our savings. This is why, it is important to find the best insurance service that would give you security and at the same time best policy offers.

I stumbled on a Florida health insurance website that provides a comprehensive list of insurance in the area. To get kaiser health insurance means comparing and thinking well about your needs. Having the widest range of national and local insurance network, they provide customers with a comprehensive guide of the top insurance companies and kaiser california fit for each need. Not necessarily the most expensive but that with the best policies.

Meet Minnie!

DSC01182
For families who love to travel, the beach or anywhere water fun is available would be the first choice for summer or fun rides and fantasy parks, read: Disneyland.  The one we've been to and the nearest is Disneyland Paris so a change in surrounding might be better. Aside from our neighboring countries surrounded by water, Orlando (Florida) is one of the best spots that vacationer's deem worthy of their money especially with packages tailored for individual or group needs. The child in each of us would surely come out when visiting theme parks as Disney World's Magic Kingdom, Sea World or Universal Studios. How about Disney Waterparks such as the Typhoon Lagoon or Blizzard Beach?

Nowadays , package vacation deals are the trend. When we went to Disneyland Paris, we got plane fare, hotel accommodation and meals plus Disneyland tickets for a reasonably-priced package, all booked by our agent. Saved us bucks and time of looking around for each as the agent gave us a good deal, everything included.

Buying an vacation package is the same. Agents selling Orlando vacation packages get discounted rates from theme parks directly and shares this with their customers. Surely there are other ticket sellers around Orlando, but which one provides the best? Having over 50 years of management experience in the theme park industry, Orlandofuntickets.com takes pride in having reliability and convenience with their service. Orlando vacation packages will present you with lots of options for theme park tickets but it's up to you to choose what you like for your vacation.

Let the guys over at Orlandofuntickets handle your booking and needs, vacation fun starts from getting the best deal anyway without the hassle. Get your vacation package for a nice stay the Sunshine State now, visit Orlandofuntickets.com and seal the best deals including your Disney Tickets! It's always nice meeting Mickey, Minnie Mouse and the gang!

Fashion and sense

While shopping with a good friend, I noticed that our choices of clothing were pretty much different. However, there were also stuff that we agreed on, thank goodness office clothing/suits need not be as how it used to.

Since she works and I don't she has to choose that certain elegant office look. Nowadays, fashionistas at work are not talked about behind the back but are more accepted if not asked upon by co-workers as to where they can buy the best and most fashionable dresses, skirts, and suits for women.

My friend and I had big bags of loot that day but it seems to be not enough.
Glad there are online shops that sells gorgeous dresses and skirt or office wear (just in case I would need some in the future), surely there is one recommended for those who love to dress up, ocassionally, casually or just at the office especially that summer is almost over and its time to dress up for spring.

See here for a gallery of women’s clothing at the best prices offered, a wide range of selection which means better deals and more savings. A big bonus would be pages on tips, definition and more about fashion sense for women, trends and style guides!

Business Cards

With the popularity of today's online services, printing has become much cheaper and simpler than years ago. This is not limited only to photos but any printed products or promotional items for personal or office use. Printing on coffee mugs, personalized keytags, magnets, named pens, pillows and towels, custom business cards and customized T-shirts are now as easy as 1,2,3. Souvenirs are now easier to manage with this kind of service. As a PR strategy, companies may opt to have Logo shirts printed too, conveniently delivered to them and are given away as souvenirs, but of course a business card works the same way.

Up...tears fell down

up-movieThere aren't so many films that made me cry, I can remember a handful and as examples...Toy Story 2 (Pixar) when Jesse told her story of being abandoned by her 'owner' and  Meet the Robinson's (Walt Disney Animation), I cried much at the end of the story, that when Lewis was finally adopted and the ending song Little Wonders was played. I thought it would be the last film that I would cry to watch until I saw UP, Pixar's latest feature animated film which was also the first to screen in 3D. A few minutes into the film and my tears welled up.

When you meet Carl Fredricksen at first (voiced by Edward Asner), you might think he is not the ideal film protagonist at all. But as I learn more about Carl, a 78-year-old retired balloon salesman  when his story was shown, my views changed. He and his childhood sweetheart Ellie (voiced by Director's daughter elie Docter) were explorer wannabes. As kids, they had dreamed of  one day going to Paradise Falls, deep in the mysterious South American jungles. They grew up, got married and were saving up for that particular trip  but problems arise; home issues, childlessness, car repairs and all that kept them busy and ate up what the two saved up...they never made it to Paradise Falls. Carl almost forgot about their dream. When he finally remembered, Ellie was not too fit to go and eventually died without realizing their explorer adventures. Now, I'll stop before spilling more...mycrying which did not surprise hubby and the kids.

This movie is a must see. There were lots of instances when the grumply-old-Carl's antics would make him look more of an action star than an old balloon seller who is in retirement. The whole cast ensemble namely Russell (voiced by Jordan Nagai), a cute Wilderness Explorer who wanted to earn his “senior assistance” badge; Kevin, the flightless birds who turned out to be female;  even Charles Muntz, who was Carl and Ellie's inspiration; and of course the talking dogs, added much for our "oh's" and guffaws.

Needless to say, the production design is as gorgeous as it should be like its predecessors Wall-E, Finding Nemo and Toy Story. What I like about the film though are the silent passages which shows that indeed, action speaks louder than words...and again what makes each Pixar movies apart from others... that of  the humanity within the characters unfolding as the story is told and the ability to touch the heart of the viewers.

Old school mail

Back in Highschool, my peer would exchange everyday little notes of "hi's, hello's, have a nice day's and I missed you yesterday's." I always thought then and I still think now that it is sweet and cute especially when written personally by each of us on those recycled papers and stationeries.

I got in contact with a friend who is now based in California and we got to talking about those days, the thought rekindled those days when we would shop for special stationeries, have our own name stamps, send out letters even if we would actually see each other often. Then we also had our own calling cards, address labels and name tags printed! We had stickers and all those printed with our favorite cartoon characters that was really the example of cuteness. Well, back then we would order from friends who would bring their samples in binded folders and we pick out our designs, nowadays its easier online. Might as well try and see what I can print out, I promised my friend I would send her a snail mail soon. :)

Overheard

mirrorphotoI was readying the table for dinner and  the two older kids were sitting already, we were having beef with mushroom and broccoli and the leftover beefstew (with corn).

The conversation:

Daughter: Wow mushroom and broccoli, that's your favorite right? You can have more.

Son1: Mushroom is your favorite no? Then, you can have more of that.

Daughter: Oh, I don't want that for now, I'm having corn and soup.

Son1: Why wouldn't you want to eat mushroom? Don't you want to grow taller??!?

I was curious when I heard him ask this.

Son1: Don't you remember Mario grows bigger when he eats mushrooms!

Almusal / Breakfast

balcony breakfast

"Breakfast at Balcony's"

---

I was actually supposed to post my yang chow rice recipe but I will put that one in my food blog ;) . Happy LP!

Caribbean Getaway

Where I am is far from the sea, reason enough that seafoods cost a bit higher compared to neighbouring countries surrounded by water. It also follows that seafood restaurants would not be so pocket-friendly for a family of five dine-out nights.

Being near the sea, is a normal thought I have on cold days and gray skies. Not only would I want to eat fresh fruits of the sea, I also enjoy playing sand with the kids, snorkeling and boating with the purpose of taking photos. ;-)

So here are some thoughts to fight away the winter blues, a getaway for the hubby and I. To spend a few nights on one of those wonderful caribbean vacations, not necessarily now, maybe in spring or summer.

Superclub Breezes offers a good package deal for early birds to any of their resorts in Brazil, Jamaica, Panama, the Bahamas and more. Its an all inclusive vacation package, a very convenient way to opt for when travelling away and of course cheaper not to mention hassle free.

Relax, have the best massage and best facial treatment with using natural products. This could also be the best place for a change in over-all look...perhaps a haircut and glowing skin.

Hubby and I plays Wii golf, it would be fun playing the real thing! At Breezes resorts, guests can enjoy both business and pleasure. Attend a conference meeting in the morning and play golf with co-workers in the afternoon.

Most of all, Breezes resorts are also willing to provide places for wedding events. They offer it for free or if you want a grand celebration, a wedding specialist will be willing to help from flower arrangements to documentation, from providing the minister to all that you want a dream wedding to be.

Otherwise, you can book for your honeymoon there for an all inclusive vacation package and stay at any of the very romantic caribbean hotels. Since hubby and I had our wedding years ago, a vow renewal by the beach is our only choice...or I'd just stick with the seafoods at best.

Online Ticketing Booth

Do you enjoy the theatre, watching rock concerts, or live sports games? Well, if you do, ACheapSeat.com is an affordable online ticket booth you can visit and buy cheap tickets from.

They have lots of tickets not just for your favorite football game but concert tickets and theatre tickets too. The website also features information on game schedules, concert dates, and theater shows. You also have the option of picking out the best price and best seat for you and your family.

You can buy New York Giants Tickets in advance so you get the best seat ahead of everyone. If you love other teams, then you can get the New York Jets tickets or the Pittsburgh Steelers tickets at reasonable prices. I find this very convenient than personally picking up your ticket from a seller, you save time and not to mention money for the cheaper priced tickets.

If you are into a more classical show as the theatre, then check out what they have to offer, I think my kids would love the theatrical Highschool Musical as they did the movie. There are lots of scheduled concerts and shows at the website, I'm sure you'll find one for the family for the weekend.

Tuyo (dry) / Nakakakilabot (Frightening) - Litratong Pinoy

Rain Water Barrels

Nowadays, saving as much as one can is but a practical thing. For one, mother nature has provided us with lots of free water, we only need to contain it when it falls and use it later on for watering plants or washing the car than wasting precious metered water from the hose, right? When it comes to storing rain water, rain barrels are the best option...There are rain barrels that can be used from recycled containers as opted by those who find its cost a little high. Old wine barrels, food storage or so will do the job. There are many available information on how to make a rain barrel at home and how to collect rain water from rooftops and rainwater.

But if you like a functional and yet decorative ones, there are rain barrels for sale like this one in photo. The covering for this particular barrel acts as a plant pot too and is really a cute addition. I also find the installed faucet in these rain water barrels convenient. Simply connect the hose and spinkle your garden to life!

A game in the grocery

Don't you just love discount/grocery coupons and promotional codes ? I do! I think most of us do---during our recent trip back home I was given 10 discount coupons by the ticketing agency for buying 5 plane tickets from them. It was a 5euro each discount coupons for the 1st district branch of  TGI Friday's. Now, I just need to tag along 2 other friends to use the coupons.

Be it food places, shoe stores or techie gadget coupons, I think we are more driven to buy when we have those. It's the same force that pulls us inside shopping malls when we see the big 4-letter-word: SALE! Using coupons to save money is  simply being smart, you save money and you can use that  money for something else. Thank Teri and Co. at theGroceryGame.com! They have compiled a list of weekly specials offered by manufacturer's along with matching coupons! All you need to do is register to benefit from the site...save lots from your budget of the month.

The website provides a comprehensive 'answers' section to the more frequently asked questions by customers. The testimonial page would be proof that the GroceryGame is no scam but pure helpful online endeavor to help us cutback on expenses.

Cute glasses

I have been seeing a lot written about Zenni Optical Eyeglasses, there were so much buzz about it...that I had to check what's different with these eyeglasses.

Zenni Optical offers 8$ complete prescription glasses, a steal from the usual fare of 50$ and up. Each frame comes in stylish designs and colors.

t_1315
My personal favorite would be this one blue half-rim frames with acetate templates. Fortunately, my eyes are perfectly ok and so are my kids', so if there are just designer frames for a cooler look, I'd definitely take one. This one too in photos would look nice when worn by my daughter...(imo).

Though priced lower, these eyeglasses boast of anti-scratch coating feature and full UV protection. Each also comes with quality hard eyeglass case and microfiber lens cleaning cloth. Take a look at their wide selection and order yours now!

Farm - Unique Exposures

fields

I've been trying to guess what those are, a sunflower field? A mustard field? You're guess is as good as mine. I took this photo on my way to St.Pölten, Austria, it's a 40 minute-travel from Vienna, I had much time clicking the camera while inside the train...just taking photos of farms and greeneries. =)

Kino Spaß - Weekend snapshot

alexbeach While my 2 kids were away having fun at the beach, the little boy was at home waiting for them to come back. We originally planned for this vacation in Hungary with mom in law but since we went home last month, hubby and I decided we stay behind and let the 2 kids go for the whole week. Little boy was with me since I told the kindergarten he won't be coming for the supposed vacation. We didn't have so much to do as I opted to write stuff (paid) to make up for the spontaneous vacation we had.

---

(Below)

Last week's theme for Unique Exposures was sleep. Scroll below and you'll see my entry which seems to have been recognized by the admin...hihi. On Saturday, as the little boy was waiting for his siblings, hubby and I found him sleeping like this on our bed...well, I am always amazed how he could sleep in such a position lol!

suess

In the afternoon we then decided to watch a film, Ice Age 3...I thought we'd be watching at the nearest Kino so I took time dressing up which really upset hubby :D. It was the one farther our place so we had to wait for the bus which added to hubby's irk. We anyway arrived just in time to be able to buy an extra large popcorn and some drinks...

ateanddan

Upon entry, the inspector noticed we were missing one person since we have 6 tickets instead of five lol. So we brought the other one back before finally sitting down to watch. Upon seeing Scrat's sniffing nose on screen, the little boy shouted "little buddy!" in reference to how Sid called him in Ice Age, Meltdown when he rescued  and initiated CPR on Scrat. We had a good laugh even though the film has been translated to German hihi.

Auf Wiedersehen - Litratong Pinoy

-----

Sabi ng bestfriend ko, "You'll never know the importance of someone until you lose him."

And HE will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.

My dad's favorite song, I like old songs because of him...Auf wiedersehen...maghihintay lang ako.
